In 2026 two separate films carrying the Drishyam name reached theatres. The Malayalam Drishyam 3, directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal as Georgekutty, released worldwide on 21 May 2026. The Hindi film, officially titled Drishyam: The Conclusion and starring Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, released on 2 October 2026. They are not the same story.
This independent guide sets out the verified facts about both films: release dates, directors, producers, principal cast, production notes, and how each fits into the wider Drishyam franchise. It does not claim any affiliation with Aashirvad Cinemas, Panorama Studios, Star Studio18 or the filmmakers.
Two Distinct Films in 2026
The original 2013 Malayalam film written and directed by Jeethu Joseph spawned a successful Hindi remake in 2015. Each language line then continued with its own sequels. By 2026 the paths had diverged completely.
- Malayalam Drishyam 3 (also marketed as Drishyam 3: The Past Never Stays Silent) continues the story of Georgekutty and his family after the events of Drishyam 2 (2021). It was written and directed by Jeethu Joseph and produced by Antony Perumbavoor under Aashirvad Cinemas.
- Hindi Drishyam: The Conclusion (commonly still called Drishyam 3 by audiences) is an original story for the Hindi characters, not a remake or adaptation of the Malayalam third film. It was directed by Abhishek Pathak and produced by Panorama Studios and Star Studio18.
Director Abhishek Pathak and Ajay Devgn have publicly confirmed that the Hindi third film uses a new screenplay and is intended as the final chapter of the Hindi franchise. For a side-by-side comparison see Malayalam vs Hindi differences.

Franchise Context
The Drishyam series began with Jeethu Joseph’s 2013 Malayalam film about an ordinary family man forced to protect his family after an accidental crime. The story was remade in multiple Indian languages. The Hindi version (2015) starring Ajay Devgn became a major commercial success and received its own sequel in 2022.
By 2026 the two major language tracks were no longer synchronized. The Malayalam third film continues Georgekutty’s arc under Jeethu Joseph. The Hindi third film closes Vijay Salgaonkar’s arc under a different writer-director team with an original screenplay. See the full franchise timeline.
